India’s 2026 Assembly elections: dated schedule context and official results

Assembly Elections 2026 India Kerala Assam Tamil Nadu West Bengal Schedule — Daily Trend Hub

This is historical context for the 2026 Assembly elections, not advice to vote today or tomorrow. Election schedules, candidate notices and counting results are separate records. Use the Election Commission of India for the original documents and final constituency records.

What the dated records say

The ECI press note of 23 March 2026 identifies Assam, Kerala and Puducherry as going to the polls on 9 April 2026. It also records the nomination stage and the earlier announcement of elections in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. These are dates for that election cycle, not current polling instructions.

An Election Commission release published by PIB on 6 May 2026 refers to 4 May as counting day. For constituency-level outcomes, consult the ECI May 2026 results portal.

How to read election information correctly

  1. Confirm the state, constituency and election type. A bye-election and a general Assembly election are not interchangeable.
  2. Read the date and purpose of the document. A nomination count is not a seat result, and a scheduled poll is not a turnout figure.
  3. For a party total, distinguish leads during counting from won seats. Keep the source’s timestamp with any historical snapshot.
  4. For the final constituency record, follow ECI’s stated final-data route, including Form 20 where applicable.
  5. For a future election, locate its own official notice instead of reusing this page’s dates or assuming uniform polling hours.

What this page does not establish

This guide does not supply unverified constituency polling hours, candidate predictions, turnout estimates or new result totals. It does not assume that a general website timestamp is the time every constituency completed counting.

If two reports disagree, compare their dates, constituencies and counting stages first. A later verified result can differ from an earlier lead without either being a current live update. Preserve that distinction when sharing a screenshot or quoting an old article.

For Tamil Nadu specifically, use the Tamil Nadu seat totals and constituency lookup rather than treating a national overview as a constituency result.
